ENGLAND legend Stuart Pearce is set to visit the county town on Friday, June 19, as part of the Dorchester Town CFC Ability Counts team’s presentation evening and fundraiser.

The former Nottingham Forest defender, capped by his country 78 times, will be part of an event which also includes impressionist Les Gibson and magician Gary Jones at the Trinity Club from 7pm until late.

Speaking on behalf of the Magpies’ Ability Counts set-up, Shaun Hearn told Echosport: “We had Kevin Keegan last year and this year we are doing the same sort of thing. We try and get an ex-pro down every year to raise a few quid for the coffers as well, it’s nice for the boys to have someone special coming down.

“The first team won their league and the second team came runners- up in their league this season.

“The first team have won the league two years on the trot now and have done really well. It is growing and growing now which is really good because it is inclusive for everybody.”

Tickets for the event are £30 which includes a three-course meal, there will also be a raffle and a sporting auction on the night.

The club have also started an under-16 Ability Counts squad and are looking for players, as well as looking to set up a ladies’ team.
