POOLE Town boss Tom Killick revealed he had made a significant dent in his short summer shopping list having completed the signing of Dorchester legend Jamie Gleeson.

The 30-year-old midfielder today ended his 10-year association with the Magpies to sign a one-year deal at Tatnam.

Gleeson, who spent time at Southampton as a youngster, made seven Football League appearances in a season-long stint Kidderminster Harriers before racking up more than 300 matches having shifted to Dorchester.

The capture completed a good week for Killick, who also announced that Marvin Brooks, a target for Dorchester and Weymouth, had agreed to sign a new deal with the Dolphins.

And the Poole manager is keen to focus his attention on incoming personnel after stating he is “optimistic” over retaining the services of free-scoring winger Luke Burbidge.

Killick told the Daily Echo: “We wanted to concentrate on bringing quality to the club because we knew we would not need great numbers.

“It is a case of being selective and getting one or two really good players that can help us. With his background in Conference South football over a number of years, Jamie really fits the bill.

“He is physically strong with a good character and it is a real coup for us to attract him away from Dorchester because of his long-standing affiliation with the club.

“He is a powerful player who can give us a real platform from a holding position and now we have made this first, really good addition, we hope to make one or two others.”
