MARK Jermyn insists he will be instructing his Magpies troops not to settle for anything less than three points at Poole Town this evening (7.45pm).

Dorchester Town head to Tatnam bidding to leapfrog the third-placed Dolphins in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division table and in turn head back to the Avenue with Dorset derby bragging rights.

Jermyn guided Dorchester to a 2-1 win when the sides met in April, having returned from Poole to manage the Magpies back in January.

Now bidding to beat his former club away from home, the county town chief is going into the clash in a confident mood.

He told Echosport: “We certainly won’t be going there wanting a draw. We will be going there for the three points. We are not going to pull any punches.

“We know what Poole’s attributes are and we know where their strengths lie so it’s important we get to grips with that early.

“We have to make sure that we play to our strengths and be competitive.

“I don’t think we fear anybody at the moment but we are very conscious that we don’t take any game too lightly.”

As well as the brotherly battle between Nathan and Michael Walker, one Dolphins’ asset Jermyn knows extremely well is midfielder Jamie Gleeson, who made the switch from the Avenue to Tatnam in June after a decade at Dorchester.

The David Beckham lookalike arrived in the county town before the start of the 2005/06 campaign and went on to make 381 appearances in a Dorchester shirt.

Jermyn added: “I am surprised that Jamie hasn’t started more games than he has got (at Poole). That shows the depth they have in their squad if they can leave someone like Jamie out.

“We have a few players who played at Poole last season in myself, Charlie Davis and Neil Martin.

“There are no points to prove, it’s just a case that we want to show how far we have come as a team in a short space of time.”
