MARK Jermyn has admitted there would be no place for him in the Magpies’ starting XI if all of his players were fully fit.

And the player-manager is hopeful that come next Tuesday, when Dorchester host Poole, he should have an injury-free squad for only the second time this term.

“I don’t see myself in our strongest starting XI at the moment,” he said. “Once we get our strongest team out I’d have enough confidence in them so that I wouldn’t have to play.

“I haven’t been able to concentrate on my fitness as much as I did when I was just a player.

“I’ve only got so much time to work on it and I’m just not able to do things like go for a run.

“Hopefully towards the end of the season I won’t be playing, our better players will be, that’s the way I see it.

“Then when we go into next season I’ll play less again as the only way this group is going to get better is by playing together more.”

He added: “Come next Tuesday we should be able to field our strongest side for the first time since Cambridge City away.

“That is the only time this season we’ve been able to do that."

However, before facing Poole, Dorchester travel to St Neots Town tomorrow (3pm).

Jermyn is suspended and there are doubts over Jake Smeeton and Matt Oldring.
