MAGPIES skipper Jake Smeeton firmly believes his team-mates can bounce back from the midweek hiding by Poole at Redditch United tomorrow (3pm).

Dorchester suffered their first home defeat in the league this season when crashing 5-1 to the Dolphins on Tuesday.

But after that massively disappointing result for the county town club, Smeeton reckons the players have the ability to put it behind them and move on.

“We’ve got a good group of lads who will stick together and pull through this,” he told Echosport.

“I feel the players have got the character to come back strongly and go into Saturday with the right mentality.

“Everyone was hurting after the game on Tuesday but we will regroup and go again this weekend with our heads up.

“I’m adamant we will turn it around.”

Giving his views on where it went wrong for Dorchester against Poole, he added: “Maybe they were up for it slightly more and their quality and experience showed.

“All credit to Poole, they sat back and we struggled to break them down on the night.

“We got caught on the counter-attack and gave away a few sloppy goals.”

Redditch, unbeaten in their last three, sit fifth in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division table, one point behind Weymouth.

The Reds have a good record at home in the league this season, with their only defeat in seven coming against Cirencester on the opening day.
