BOSS Mark Jermyn admitted that the Magpies paid the price for not sticking to their game plan at Kingstonian last night.

Jermyn’s Dorchester side slipped to a 2-1 defeat in their FA Trophy replay against the Ks, with two-goal Dan Bennett emerging as the hosts’ match-winner.

The loss means the Magpies miss out on facing Truro City at the Avenue in the third qualifying round later this month.

“We started very well and went 1-0 up,” said Jermyn after the final whistle in London. “But we found ourselves 2-1 down before half-time and couldn’t get back into it.

“We didn’t really stick to our game plan as much as we should have and that is what ultimately caused us to lose.

“We had enough chances but unfortunately we weren’t clinical enough in front of goal.

“The lads played well in the first half but the game got stretched in the second, and when you’re chasing a game you can always leave more space at the back.”

Just like they had in the first game with the Ks on Saturday, Dorchester opened the scoring last night, this time through Neil Martin.

But Bennett, whose own goal in the 2-2 draw at the Avenue took the tie to a replay, levelled things up a minute later and then scored the winner on the half-hour mark.

Dorchester will now turn their attention to the league, with a home fixture against Hungerford Town on Saturday up next.
