NO-NONSENSE Dorchester Town talisman Nathan Walker wants to make this Christmas one to forget for rivals Weymouth.

Walker says the Magpies have no intention of settling for a draw when they to the Bob Lucas Stadium on Boxing Day – they want go to do the double over the Terras.

A goal by Mark Jermyn settled the first league derby between the sides at the Avenue back in August, giving Dorchester fans the local bragging rights for the last four months.

Another win for the Magpies on Saturday would see them move to within one point of Jason Matthews’ Weymouth side in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division.

“It should be a good game, a bit tasty like the last one” said Walker. “On that day we wanted it more and played better than them.

“This fixture is always a tough one and we’ve got to respect what Jason is doing down there.

“They are pushing for the play-offs and have had a good season, but hopefully we can ruin their Christmas.

“You are fired up for every game but this is a local derby and no-one wants to lose it.

“We were embarrassed by Poole in another derby match this season and we don’t want a repeat of that.

“The boys will look after themselves over Christmas and will be raring to go on Boxing Day.”

He continued: “They are not a bad side and have got some good players, but we aren’t going to be worried about them and they aren’t going to be worried about us.

“We’ve got a good, young side and we have surprised a lot of teams, and if we turn up on the day we’ll give them a very good match.

“We’re not going there for the draw, we are going there for the three points, and I think we will beat them if we are on our game.

“We want to do the double over them and if we can then we’ll go to within a point of them in the table.

“I’m confident we can go there and get the win, and there are going to be no excuses if we lose.

“Weymouth will be up for it as much as we are and losing to us earlier in the season would have hurt them.”

Giving his view on where the game will be won or lost, Walker added: “I think whoever wins the midfield battle will win the game.

“Weymouth have got a lot of experience in that area and we’ve got some good young players there.

“Charlie Davis has been superb and Luke Holmes has come in and done well.

“They have lost Ben Thomson which is a big blow for them, but we’ve lost Bradley Tarbuck as well and that’s a massive blow for us.”
