DORCHESTER Town go for a second league double of the season against Cambridge City this weekend with boss Mark Jermyn grateful of a mini winter break since the defeat of Frome.

The Magpies have not been in action since beating the Robins 3-0 in Somerset last Wednesday – they had no fixture scheduled for the weekend while Tuesday’s clash with Kettering was postponed.

By the time they host Cambridge at the Avenue tomorrow (3pm) it will be 10 days since Jermyn’s men kicked a ball in anger, which coming on the back of a win would normally be frustrating.

However, that is not the case for the county town chief. “I think it has worked in our favour,” he said.

“Chris Dillon wasn’t very well and other players were struggling for Tuesday with work commitments.

“So as much as we would have liked a game after Frome, the fact Tuesday was off has probably worked out well for us.

“We took the boys for a long run along the Ridgeway on Saturday and then we got a lot of work done after that on Tuesday.”

Dorchester face Cambridge having already beaten the Lilywhites 3-0 earlier in the campaign thanks to goals from Dillon, Charlie Davis and Bradley Tarbuck.

“It is probably our standout away performance of the season so far,” added Jermyn. “We were exceptional on the day.

“We turned up about 20 minutes before kick-off and didn’t have the best preparation, but the way we started the game was excellent.

“We’re looking forward to the game this weekend and three points would take us further up the table.”
