BOSS Mark Jermyn has spoken in glowing terms of Dorchester Town star Jonah Ayunga, hailing the striker as one of the best talents he has seen at the club.

Youngster Ayunga burst onto the scene at the start of the campaign after impressing Jermyn and his coaching staff during pre-season training.

The most recent of his eight league goals came in the 3-0 defeat of Cambridge City last weekend – the centre forward was replaced by younger brother Sol during the second half.

“It was good to see Jonah scoring another one and it was a great strike,” said Jermyn. “He seems to be on the up again.

“As we all know, he came from nowhere and was then starting in a men’s team.

“Everyone was raving about him and saying about how he was a great find, then he kind of plateaued a bit, but now he has got that bit of swagger about him again.

“I’ve not come across any players like Jonah, not at his age, and I really hope he does progress, although hopefully we can keep him for a little while first.

“Since I’ve been here, out of all the players that have gone on and done good things, I would say he is up there with the best of them, I really do believe that.

“He is a great guy as well.”

Ayunga will look to add to his goals tally this Saturday when Dorchester go to Dunstable Town.
