DORCHESTER Town will look to deal one of their promotion rivals a big blow tomorrow, nearly a year after staging a remarkable comeback in the same fixture.

One point separates sixth-placed Dunstable Town and the Magpies, who occupy seventh, in the Evo- Stik Southern Premier Division going into the showdown at Creasey Park (3pm).

And if the contest this weekend is anywhere near as action-packed as the previous meeting between the teams in Bedfordshire then it should make for an entertaining afternoon.

Dorchester fought back from 3-1 down to win 5-3 last February, with Bradley Tarbuck scoring his first Magpies’ goal to complete the scoring late on.

“We’re looking forward to Saturday now and continuing our recent run of good performances,”

said county town player-manager Mark Jermyn.

“After the game up there last season I think they are going to be out for a bit of revenge, but this is a good opportunity for us to go above them in the league.

“Over the next couple of weeks you will see a lot of change and gaps opening up in the league table, and hopefully we can stay in as high a position as possible.”

Both sides were left frustrated on Tuesday night as freezing temperatures led to postponements.

However, despite being frozen out, the two teams are in decent form at the moment.

Dorchester have won their last two and are unbeaten in four, while the Duns have four victories and a draw in their last five outings.

“There was a little bit of frustration around it,” said Jermyn when speaking about the disappointment of the postponed game in midweek.

“They (Bideford) hadn’t played since the end of December and had a few players missing through injury, so it would have been a good time for us to play them.

“I’m not saying it would have been a forgone conclusion but we have been doing well recently and I think we could have picked up the three points.

“It would have given us the chance to keep up our momentum going as well, but there was no give in the ground and you wouldn’t want to risk anyone getting hurt.

“It was frustrating for us and the supporters, but it would have been a horrendous game to watch because of the bounce of the ball.”

The sides drew 0-0 when they met at the Avenue last August.
