MAGPIES’ chief Mark Jermyn insists Saturday’s defeat against Slough Town will not define the county town club’s season and stressed the importance of coming back stronger.
The Dorchester Town player-manager saw his side get punished at the Avenue and come away empty- handed after some wasteful finishing proved costly.
The hosts squandered a number of opportunities to find the net during their 2-1 defeat against the Rebels.
But Jermyn is keen for his players to learn from that setback and remained proud of how far his troops have come this term.
He told Echosport: “It’s not going to define our season that we lost on Saturday.
“It’s just a case of reflecting on what went badly, and what went well, and making sure we come out with more positives this week than we do negatives.
“It’s important not to get disheartened by a defeat.
“We are falling short from where we want to be at the moment but you get a win next weekend and you can march back on.”
He added: “The players have worked really hard this season and we will continue to do so.
“I think it shows from last season to this that we have improved.
“We have got to remember that we are a team building for the future. We are not the finished article, we are improving.”
