MAGPIES’ first team coach Stuart Heath believes Dorchester Town have all the potential to be a very good side, if they are more ruthless at either end of the pitch.

The county town club were left disappointed at the weekend after they were edged out in a 3-2 defeat against Hitchin Town.

Eager to respond quickly, the Magpies have a good opportunity to bounce back when they host rock-bottom Bideford at the Avenue this evening (7.45pm).

Giving his thoughts ahead of the encounter, Heath told Echosport: “In my opinion I think we are a good team that has potential to turn into a very good team but we have got to, at times, address our game management.

“There are certain times in games where, at both ends of the pitch, we have to be a bit more ruthless.

“We have to convert more chances than we are doing and, defensively, we have to be more ruthless in our own penalty box, especially with set-pieces and crosses that come into our box.

“Our overall game and performances in the majority of games this season have been very good but it’s just those vital, key moments within both penalty boxes at either end of the pitch.”

Heath indicated that Charlie Davis is set to have a fitness test on his ankle before tonight’s game and Chris Dillon is expected to come back into the Magpies’ squad after being unavailable at the weekend.

Neil Martin, Oakley Hanger and Matt Oldring are all still nursing injuries. Player-boss Mark Jermyn is suspended.

Heath added: “It’s a game we won’t be complacent with, Bideford will be fighting for their lives.

“We will look to stamp our authority on the game and look to bounce back again.”
