ILLNESS is still rocking the Dorchester Town camp in the build-up to their reverse fixture with Leamington at the Avenue tomorrow (3pm), according to assistant-manager Nick Crittenden.

The county town squad were hit with a number of withdrawals from their squad in the 3-0 away defeat against the Brakes on Tuesday due to a virus in the camp, which included player-manager Mark Jermyn and first-team coach Stuart Heath not being able to make the trip.

Giving an update on the wellness of the Magpies, player-assistant Crittenden told Echosport: “We actually called off training last night.

“There was no point in dragging people in if they are sneezing and coughing.

“Having spoken to Jem he doesn’t sound too great. Stuart Heath is going to be away for a week, he has been told he is quite contagious.

“We are going to have to try and keep Jem away I think. He is still struggling but you never know he might be alright.”

He added: “I’m also possibly struggling for Saturday with a thigh strain, it was chasing their number 11 around!

“Fingers crossed that Luke Holmes and Frankie (Clarke) will be okay for Saturday.

“We missed Frankie’s work-rate, his fitness and his endeavour and Luke obviously gives us a bit of quality on the ball.”

On a potential game plan ahead of the contest, Crittenden added: “We know their centre-forward is big and strong, it might be a case of putting Nathan (Walker) back and letting Nathan deal with him.”
