ASSISTANT manager NICK Crittenden is looking for his players to “play with passion and desire” when they take on Redditch United at home on Saturday (3pm) in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Divison.

After last Saturday’s disappointing draw at Paulton Rovers, Mark Jermyn’s right-hand man is hoping for his Dorchester players to be up for the fight against promotion-chasing Redditch.

“The team still has a lot to play for,” Crittenden told Echosport. “They are playing for their future.

“We are yet to talk to any of them about next season, so as far as we are concerned it is in their hands.

“We want a reaction after the disappointing result against Paulton. We want to see that passion and desire to chase the ball and see who is good enough to match teams like Redditch.”

The Reds drew 0-0 on Monday and were docked three points on Wednesday after fielding two ineligible players against St Neots Town in February.

The assistant manager wants the squad to be fully motivated against tough opposition.

He said: “I am confident the players will bounce back and give everything.

“We will set up our strongest possible XI and try and take the game to them. They’ll come at us because they’re looking to win the league and we have to prepare for that.”

There are no fresh injury concerns for the Magpies ahead of the clash with Shane Murphy, Jake Smeeton and Matt Oldring all still out with knocks.
