MAGPIES’ manager Mark Jermyn wants two good results from his side’s remaining games if they are to build a positive momentum into next season.

Their first opportunity is a trip to Stratford Town tonight in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division (7.45pm).

The county town side lost 1-0 at Bedworth United on Saturday and Jermyn wants a positive reaction from his squad.

He told Echosport: “We’ll be going into tonight’s game with a positive vibe. We’ve done a lot of hard work from the start of the season and, yes, we haven’t replicated that in the second half of the season.

“But we will still take out the positives from Saturday’s game, which was the first-half performance. We need to take that into the game against Stratford and improve on that.”

The run of defeats leading into tonight’s match has given Jermyn much food for thought about the players he intends to keep for next season.

“The results haven’t mattered for a couple of weeks,” the manager explained. “I’m not going to say that I would choose to lose games but what I’ve found out from the playing side of things is more than winning games.

“I need to know if the players are going to show the desire to improve and at the moment there is a big question mark over that.”

Jermyn will be hoping for a performance like the one that saw his side dispatch Stratford 3-1 at home back in September, before their final game of the season against Kettering on Saturday (3pm).
