WIMBORNE Town have swooped to sign both Toby Holmes and Luke Holmes from Dorchester Town.

The club’s chairwoman, Paula Henley broke the news on Twitter on Sunday night and on Monday morning.

Commenting about the signing of Toby Holmes, she said: “A fantastic signing for the Magpies and the marker (is) well and truly set.”

Luke Holmes is making a return to Cuthbury and the chairwoman welcomed him back with open arms, tweeting: “Welcome back to Wimborne Town Luke Holmes! Superb signing by the boss.”

He will be teaming up with his father and manager, Matty Holmes, at Wimborne for next season.

The pair become the second and third departures from the Avenue Stadium after Bradley Tarbuck moved to Havant & Waterlooville last month.

Luke Holmes moved from Wimborne to the Magpies back in November and played a number of times in his spell at the Avenue.

Toby Holmes joined the club back in February when he was dual-registered from Parley Sports and Poole Town, but he struggled to break into the first team.

Chairman Matt Lucas said: “We’re sorry to see them go. They were good players and we thank them for everything they did at Dorchester,”

The Magpies are set to announce the six players that will sign new contracts tomorrow.
