NICK Swann wants Dorchester Town to show some heart for their fans as they gear up to host Cirencester Town at the Avenue tonight (7.45pm).

The Magpies have had a poor start to the season, losing all three games without scoring a goal in any of them.

However, Swann, who joined the club from Hamworthy United in the summer, feels the county town side are not far from getting it right and picking up their first points of the season.

Speaking to Echosport, he said: “We have to be patient. We have a lot of new players but I think when it comes together, it will really come together.

“When it does, I think we will be putting points on the board.”

The Avenue faithful haven’t had a lot to cheer about so far this season and Swann hopes the side can get them out of their seats tonight.

He added: “Their was a good amount of fans at the weekend, and we did lose 3-0.

“It can be disheartening for them and we have to go out there tonight and show heart.

“Dorchester has a big fanbase and we have to do well for them as well as for ourselves.”

Despite the hard start for the Magpies, Swann is relishing the step up after his move from the Wessex League.

He explained: “It’s tough from where I have been, but I feel I am going well.

“I’m taking it game by game, trying not to get ahead of myself.

“All the players have been great. There are a few older shoulders in the squad and they are helping out the younger players.”

Some of those experienced players – Mark Jermyn, Chris Dillon and Nathan Walker – are all likely to feature against Cirencester, which will bolster the young squad.

Swann replaced Ben Wood in the first half of their defeat to Chesham on Saturday, who pulled his groin.

However, the industrious winger is set to play a part tonight as they look to get their season kick-started.
