NATHAN Walker called his time at Weymouth – and Gosport – the worst times of his footballing career as the utility player gets set to take on Dorchester’s bitter rivals tomorrow.

Walker, who scored in the fixture last season, is known to enjoy the atmosphere surrounding the grudge match and he is hoping his side can get one over on the Terras at the Bob Lucas Stadium.

Speaking ahead of the game, he said: “There is no better place to score than Weymouth.

“I’d love to get one over on them.

“But, let’s not hide it, they are a great side.

“They have some top players down there and they will be well organised.

“In a way, we have to respect them but we also have to go there and give it to them.

“I have every confidence that we will go down there and pick up points.”

Speaking about his time at the Terras, he added: “I didn’t enjoy my time at the club.

“It wasn’t for me and I enjoy playing for Dorchester.

“At Weymouth and Gosport it didn’t work out for me for personal reasons and it was probably the worst time of my footballing career.”

Walker is one of the more experienced heads in the Magpies’ youthful dressing room alongside captain Jake Smeeton, who will be looking to keep the team calm when they head over the Ridgeway.

Smeeton added: “We have played here for a number of years and played in numerous derbies so you know what to expect.

“It’s all about man management and I don’t think any of these lads in the dressing room will crumble under the pressure.

“We will help to settle them, but they are capable of playing in these types of games.”
