DORCHESTER Town player-manager Mark Jermyn has vowed that he will turn things around after the Magpies were dumped out of the FA Cup by Banbury United.

A brace from Felipe Barcelos and a Ricky Johnson penalty consigned the county town side to their third defeat in a week, but Jermyn is purely focused on improving his beleaguered side.

He told Echosport: “Everybody knows that this football club means more to me than any ego that I have, or any players’ ego.

“There needs to be a resolution to the problem.

“If it’s myself then I need to step up.

“I’ve been at this football club for far too long to see it not progress.

“We need to move forward because after eight games we have one win and a draw.”

He added: “If we had put a performance in like we did against Weymouth then it would’ve been a different result.

“This can’t continue. It’s important that the club moves forward because we haven’t got going.

“(The loss) is the final straw. I’ve had enough.

“The players should give everything that they’ve got, and, at the moment I don’t think some of them are.

“We’re pushing the players as much as we can, but it’s up to them.”

Jermyn was set to speak to the chairman yesterday and the boss wants to be at the helm to see the improvement.

He explained: “I will be playing the players that want to win the most.

“I want to see more effort, and I think the supporters do as well.

“It’s a results game and we have to get our attitude right.”
