DORCHESTER Town frontman Nathan Walker hopes his hat-trick in the 4-0 win over Frome Town can help the Magpies push on after a stuttering start to their season.

The three-goal haul was Walker’s first in senior football and it was a perfect one with the striker scoring goals with his left and right foot as well as his head.

Now, after their dominating win, Walker, who dedicated his haul to his friend Afsheen Panjalizadeh who is battling cancer, is hopeful his side can put in a good run of form.

He told Echosport: “It was good to get the hat-trick, but I am really pleased for the team and the management staff.

“We’ve all been working hard but the results have not been coming for us.

“It’s been a long time coming and I was so happy for the fans. They have stuck by us and it’s great to give them something to shout about.

“We put on a performance that puts us into a good position before our break.”

Asked what he will do with the match ball he answered: “Frome have given us the ball and the players have all signed it. But, the club have to pay for it.

“It’s my first career hat-trick and I’ve set myself targets and I want to hit them this season.”

Not only were his goals important to the result, so were the players at the other end, who kept a valuable clean sheet and Walker, who has played at the back on a few occasions this season, was quick to praise his defenders.

He added: “I thought our defence were outstanding. Matt (Oldring) and Chris (Dillon) were great.

“Shane (Murphy) in goal was brilliant. He came for things and caught a lot.

“He made some brilliant low saves and his kicking was excellent. Everything about his game was superb.”

Dorchester now have a week-long break before their next game when they will face St Neots Town at the Avenue Stadium on Saturday, September 24.
