DORCHESTER Town’s Nathan Walker revealed to Echosport he was given the all-clear following his concerning neck injury scare against Hayes & Yeading on Sunday.

The Magpies’ striker also wished to thank all of those who had helped him at the scene of the injury at Holloways Park, as well as people and clubs who had sent him well wishes after hearing the news of his injury.

The former county town skipper, who turns 30 today, was a huge cause for concern after a second-half collision with Dorchester keeper Shane Murphy and Hayes & Yeading’s Yannis Ambriosine left him requiring an ambulance.

Luckily for Walker, medical staff at a local hospital diagnosed a severe case of whiplash following tests to both his neck and spine.

He said: “I have been given the all-clear, which is good.

“I had an x-ray and a CT scan which showed that everything was clear and there was no damage to my neck or my spine.

“I’d like to thank Emma (Tonkin), Neil (Mackie) and Hayes & Yeading’s physio team, they were all fantastic.

“It just goes to show how easily something can happen – it could have changed my life really if I’d have broken my neck or damaged my spine.”

He added: “I have had a lot of people text me and wish me well, there are a few people from other clubs in the league (that got in contact) and at Poole Town with my brother there as well.

“I’d just like to thank everybody and let them know that everything is okay and I am okay.”

The Magpies’ players, staff and board members endured a late trip back on Sunday evening, and Walker was also appreciative of the club for waiting for him at the hospital, following the 2-1 victory.

He added: “It was very good of the club to keep the coach there.

“We travel as a team and it turns out yesterday that we are a close-knit club, the players and the board wanted to see how I was, so we all came back together.

“Jem (Mark Jermyn, manager) would have done the same for anybody in the team to be fair.

“It was probably the quietest journey home the club has ever had with me on the coach!”

Walker will unsurprisingly not be available to feature against brother Steve when Dorchester visit Salisbury in the League Challenge Cup tomorrow (7.45pm).

And boss Jermyn hinted that there could be a number of changes in the Magpies' line up for the encounter.

Speaking ahead of their cup clash with the Whites, he said: "We’ve got bigger things to worry about. Certainly our league position and consistency in our performances.

“So, we’re going to give players that haven’t played game time.

“Jamil (Roberts), Nick Swann and people like that will play.”
