NATHAN Walker felt his side’s spritely second-half showing was too late as the Magpies slipped to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Kings Langley.

First-half strikes from Lewis Toomey and Jack Waldren helped the hosts to the victory even with the county town side dominating possession in the second half.

Speaking after the game, Walker told Echosport: “We started slow like we finished the game on Tuesday night.

“At half-time, Jem (Mark Jermyn, manager) has put his opinions across and we came out and gave a good performance, which was possibly too late.”

It was a frustrating period for the side as they struggled to break down the stubborn hosts.

Walker added: “They sat back in the second half and we played some good football.

“We just couldn’t find that final ball.”

Asked what the boss had to say to the players after the defeat, Walker added: “He wasn’t happy with the result.

“He said that if we had played like we had in the second half throughout the game then we would have won the game.

“We started slow and we got punished for it.”

Jermyn added: "I am massively disappointed. We struggle to pick up points against the teams around us and we were beaten by a side that I feel we are better than.

"Wwe made double their clear cut chances and didn't take them. And when you are in our position, you can't afford to do that.

"There was a lot of frustration and I am kind of disappointed that the players didn't give a better account of themselves.

"There were a few choice words and it's just a case of moving onto the next game now."
