FRANKLYN Clarke has agreed terms to return to Dorchester Town, having parted company with York City.
The 23-year-old, who left the Avenue to make the step into the professional game in the summer, returns to the Magpies having made two appearances for the Minstermen this season.
The all-action midfielder made himself a favourite with the Magpies’ fans during his first spell in the county town, having notched a late leveller to give Dorchester a 2-2 draw on his debut against arch-rivals Weymouth on Boxing Day last season.
And Clarke is looking forward to being part of manager Mark Jermyn’s squad once again.
Speaking about Dorchester, he told Echosport: “I want to get back to playing.
“I was treated well there last season while I was there, and enjoyed my football.
“I am happy to come back and I know I will be a big part of things there, which I have missed really.
“I had a few offers but I enjoyed my time at Dorchester last season, they were the pick of the bunch.”
He added: “At Dorchester I know where I stand, I can get back there, enjoy my football, kick on and finish the season well.
“The fans at Dorchester are quality. Last season, every time I played I always had good feedback from them. It’s a good platform and that’s why I chose Dorchester.”
And while he is moving on to another fresh chapter in his career, Clarke was full of respect for former club York.
He added: “It was an opportunity that I could not turn down. Obviously to play professional football I would not change but things did not go quite to plan.
“I made my mind up that I just want to get back to playing every week. I agreed by mutual consent to leave.
“York are a great club and they treated me really well during my time there. It was a great experience and I would not change it.
“What it did show me is that I am capable of playing at that level. I made two appearances and it gave me the confidence that I can compete.
“Anyone who knows me knows that it’s all about the football and if I’m not playing, it’s not the same really.”
