DEPARTING loanee Ollie Bassett spoke out to thank Dorchester Town for his time at the club, insisting he “really enjoyed” his spell at the Avenue.

The Yeovil Town winger, who featured for the Magpies during the Ridgeway derby against Weymouth on Monday, is now set to go back to his parent club.

Assessing his time as a Dorchester Town player, the Northern Ireland under-19 international told Echosport: “It has been good to get regular games week in week out and they are a good bunch of lads (at Dorchester). They welcomed me in and encouraged me, I’ve really enjoyed it.

“I have liked it and if the opportunity came again I would definitely come back.”

Quizzed on his thoughts about the derby, Bassett added: “I wasn’t expecting there to be that many people but it was really good, the atmosphere was good with a good bit of banter between both sets of fans. Overall I thought it was a fair result.

“We were happy with the point but, on another day, we could have won it.”

And on his future plans, the youngster is hoping he can make progress having got match minutes under his belt in the county town.

“Hopefully I can go back to Yeovil and get a few games. I will speak to the gaffer (Darren Way) and see what he wants,” he added.

“I may go back out on loan, I may go back to Dorchester but we are not sure yet. I just want to kick on from what I have done at Dorchester.”
