DORCHESTER Town manager Craig Laird is expecting a tricky encounter in tomorrow’s visit to St Neots.

The Magpies find themselves in 18th position in the league and the boss is expecting a real battle against the relegation-threatened side.

He said: “I’m expecting a tough game. They’re scrapping for points at the bottom and we’re scrapping for points to secure our position in this division.

“The most important thing is that we come away from the game with something.

“But there’s a good spirit in the camp. We’ve got a good bunch of lads.”

St Neots go into the game off the back of a 4-0 defeat against the Terras last weekend, but Laird has been made aware of the threat the opposition pose.

He added: “I know they’ve got a young side. I spoke to Weymouth about them and they said they were young but are full of runners and that they don’t give up.

“But we’re a hard team to come up against, no one likes playing Dorchester at the moment.”

The match will bring a new feeling for Laird after being labelled as favourites, but he is keen to make sure his players go into the game with clear minds.

He said: “It’s a different game because we’ll be expected to win and that’s a lot of pressure on the players’ shoulders.

“But if we set ourselves up properly and are disciplined and professional, we will come away from the game with something.”
