DORCHESTER Town boss Craig Laird has described his work to improve the squad as being “about evolution, not revolution”.
The Magpies travel to Chippenham Town tomorrow afternoon (3pm), with Laird still looking for his first points as boss.
But with their last two games being postponed due to the weather, it has given the manager the opportunity to secure the signings of Lewis Powell and Ollie Griggs on loan deals.
As well as players coming in, Laird also confirmed that some may need to leave as he attempts to manage the club’s budget.
He said: “We may have to let one or two go. That’s one of the hard decisions that I may have to make.
“That’s the main reason why I’ve not been too hasty in bringing players in because if the ones we are bringing in weren’t better than the ones we’ve got, then there’s no point changing it.
“The postponements have given me the opportunity in the last couple of weeks to have a look at the team and the strengths and weaknesses of each player.
“Some are good players but have weak characters, others have strong characters but are maybe not quite as good technically. It’s getting that balance.
“I’m just trying to assess that then I can make some more rational decisions rather than coming in and wielding the axe.”
