DORCHESTER Town manager Craig Laird has said he is going to have to make some “tough decisions” regarding his squad in the coming weeks.

The Magpies lost 4-0 away to new league leaders Chippenham Town, and Laird did not mince his words in discussing the “individual errors” which cost them the game.

He said: “The game on Saturday was always going to be tough but our performance simply wasn’t good enough. We aren’t doing the basics right and that’s worrying.

“It’s individual errors by players that have cost us and I have to do something about it. We can’t be making these mistakes if we want to get out of this situation in the league.”

When asked about the continuation of these basic errors Laird then implied that changes would need to be made to correct the club’s performances.

“It’s something I’m going to have to sort out.

“We are where we are because we haven’t been good enough. You can’t paper over the cracks.”

Laird continued: “I think I’m closer to knowing what changes have to be made and that’ll become relevant over the next couple of days. I need to bring in some players and I have to let some go.

“I wouldn’t be doing my job for the chairman, the board or the supporters if I didn’t do my job properly, and it’s not done personally, it’s for the good of the club.

“I’ll have to make some tough decisions over the next couple of weeks.”

Echosport also understands that midfielder Lewis Morgan has left the club.
