DORCHESTER Town forward Lewis Powell has reinforced the importance of teamwork ahead of this afternoon’s home clash with Slough Town (3pm).

Powell led the line during last week’s victory over Dunstable Town and has praised the impact that manager Craig Laird has had.

He said: “We needed just that one win to lift everyone’s confidence a bit. We definitely looked like more of a team last weekend.

“I think everyone has realised that we need to help each other out, everyone is working hard for their team-mate, which is something we’ve spoken about a lot with Craig, so I think our work ethic is getting better.

“He’s a good man manager, he talks to different players differently and his general football knowledge is really good through his experience as a manager which helps a lot.

“Obviously I played under the manager last season so I know him quite well which has made things easier to get settled in.”

Powell, who arrived on loan from Weston-Super-Mare at the end of January, has spoken of the challenge the Magpies face today but is confident they can get a result.

He said: “They’ll be quite a strong side because they’re near the top of the league but we just need to do what we did on Saturday. We have a good group and with the loanees it is a strong group of players.

“If we stay organised and keep working hard we should be fine.”
