DORCHESTER Town FC took a big step towards their goal of installing a 3G pitch after they received an offer from West Dorset District Council S106 (planning gain monies) for 50% of the funding.

This has been declared “a great achievement” by the club and will allow them to move ahead with plans to raise a further £252,000, although some of this funding is already in place.

The Magpies have been looking to install the 3G pitch at the Avenue Stadium in order to allow them to further embed themselves in the community, and become a home to Dorchester Town Youth Football club, allowing youngsters to train and play at the stadium every week.

This works in alignment with the club’s goal of becoming “the hub of football for the local community”.

The club are still on the lookout for other investment opportunities, and should the funding target be met, they would look to install the pitch in May 2018.
