DORCHESTER Town coach Stuart Heath confirmed that he won’t be making a decision on his future until the end of the season.

Heath, who worked at the club prior to the arrival of manager Craig Laird, says that the although the last three years has been “frustrating”, he is not going to be drawn into a decision until the club’s safety in the division is secured.

Speaking of his future, he said: “Nothing has been said and I’ve not even thought about it. I’ve got to focus on the here and now and make sure that we have the points to stay up.

“It’d be nice to sit down and see what I want to do, and ultimately what Craig wants to do, because he’s in charge, but we’ve got to focus on the immediate target and aim.

“The position we’re in, it’s not what we wanted. I personally feel that the supporters have been short-changed this season and we’ve got to keep scrapping until we get those points, and only then can we think about next season and where I’m going to be.”

Speaking about his time at the club, Heath says he will need time over the summer to honestly assess both his and the team’s performance.

He said: “I’ve got a great affinity for the club. I can’t lie and say the last two or three seasons have been easy because ultimately it comes down to performances and results. At times I’ve been disappointed and I have to take my share of the responsibility like I always have done.

“Craig’s got to make a decision about who he wants player-wise and manager-wise, but at the same time I’ve got to be honest with myself during the summer, but that can wait.

“I can’t lie, it’s been frustrating because I’ve wanted myself and I’ve wanted the club to progress and aspire to a higher level, but it’s not quite happened. Those things can happen in a career, and it’s just about being honest with what you’re contributing, and if you’re happy that you’re trying your best and you’re working to the best level that you can, then ultimately that’s what most important.

“I feel like I’m doing that, whether that’s good enough for the people at the club, I’ll let them answer that.

“In terms of future career I’ve not set myself any long-term plans, mainly because I’m passionate about Dorchester Town staying in the division, and then in the summer I can step back and reflect on the last few seasons.”
