DORCHESTER Town are set to complete a treble of defensive signings, including a double swoop for Exeter City duo Kyle Egan and Jordan Storey with both men joining the Avenue Stadium on six-month loan periods.

Deals for the pair are subject to league and FA ratification with right-back Egan, 18, linking up with the Magpies for a second time after a spell with the club last season, while former Tiverton Town loanee Storey, 19, is a right-sided centre back.

Boss Laird said both players had a number of qualities he was looking for and when asked if he was expecting to make any more defensive signings, felt the latest dealings would conclude his activity in that area.

He said: “I would like to think they’re the last. We’ve got players competing for those positions.

“Kyle was with us last season. He’s energetic, competitive and gets forward but he’s a good footballer, that’s the most important thing. So I’m pleased with him. He’s another year older which will make a difference as well.

“Jordan is a good player, has got good stature, is competitive in the air and is good on the ball.”

Teenager Egan made his debut for the Grecians in August 2016, appearing as a substitute during a 2-1 defeat to Hartlepool United, before making his full debut in a 4-2 away defeat to Oxford United in the Checkatrade Trophy group stage.

Egan was named as the East Devon Grecians’ young player of the season in 2015/16 and is a product of Exeter’s academy.

Portland United centre-back Ross Carmichael is also expected to sign for the club tonight on non-contract terms.

The anticipated triple bill of new faces would take Dorchester’s tally of summer recruits to 17, including players who have resigned with the club.

On Carmichael, Dorchester manager Craig Laird admitted the defender “fits quite a few bills” for his side.

He said: “He’s a left centre-back which is what we needed. He’s a big lad and fits quite a few bills. Can he step up and play at this level? I’m confident he’ll be able to. I’m really pleased to get him.

“He’ll come in on a non-contract deal. Hopefully if things work out well, we’ll do a dual registration with the club."
