NEW Dorchester Town signing Tom Bearwish feels his move to the Avenue Stadium will help him develop as a player.

The former Portland United hitman has signed dual registration forms, allowing him to play for the Magpies while at parent club Eastleigh.

After a protracted deal was finally formalised at the weekend with the completion of the necessary administrative papers, teenage striker Bearwish is looking to “play week in, week out” for manager Craig Laird’s side.

He told Echosport: “I’m excited about it. It’s taken a long time but I want to play football – obviously I missed the first two league games.

“I want to get minutes and get back to match fitness and play week in, week out and try and get into the squad and try and score goals.

“Hopefully I get a good run out in the team and score some more goals.”

Bearwish opened his club account with a first goal for Dorchester Reserves in their 4-3 comeback win over Basingstoke on Tuesday night.

He said: “I started up front and moved back into midfield in the number 10 role, it was good to help the team.

“We showed that we can dig in and get a better result from games.”

And Bearwish echoed the thoughts of other Magpies’ players in believing a play-off place is “reachable”.

“Getting to the play-offs is definitely reachable with the players we have got in the dressing room and as long as we keep a strong team chemistry and stay strong and battle through games, really,” he said.
