DORCHESTER Town assistant-manager Trevor Senior believes there have been “a lot of positives” since Magpies’ boss Steve Thompson took over the managerial hot-seat in September.

Under the former Yeovil Town manager and ex-Woking number two, Dorchester have taken 27 points from 20 Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division games, but have crashed out of the FA Trophy and Dorset Senior Cup to lower-league opposition.

Senior now feels the Magpies’ players have a greater understanding of their duties during matches under Thompson.

He told Echosport: “There’s been a lot of positives since he’s been here. The lads know what they’ve got to do, he keeps it simple and he works on things to make them better and it looks as though they are getting better.

“It’s the same group of lads, really, one or two loan players have come in. Callum (Rose) has been outstanding, Kyle Egan has come on from when Jordan (Storey)

went back to Exeter.

“He’s come on, so the loan signings have worked. We’re playing some good football and the main thing is as long as they learn.

“We said before the Weymouth game that if you’re not a local player you perhaps don’t know what it’s all about. Well after the game I think they could see what it’s all about and witnessed it.

“Antonio (Diaz) has come in and he’s certainly made a difference as well.

“Him and Kyle have struck up quite a good little pairing down that right-hand side, so we’re pleased at the moment.”

On Diaz, Senior felt the winger was enjoying his football at the Avenue Stadium, having been a key player for them since he joined in early December.

“He’s absolutely loving it, I know he is. He’s enjoying it and you can see that. He’s got about 20 family members in the crowd watching as well.

“It’s good to have him here and he’s got on well with the lads.”
