DORCHESTER Town assistant-manager Trevor Senior believes the Magpies’ players will be looking to erase the memory of this season’s 1-0 defeat at Bishop’s Stortford when the two sides renew their rivalry at the Avenue Stadium tomorrow (3pm).

Darren Foxley popped up with an 83rd-minute winner for the Blues back in December, but the Magpies’ managerial staff were known to be extremely discontent at that performance.

Such was the dissatisfaction at the display, Senior felt Dorchester did not do themselves “justice” and is keen to go level on points with the Hertfordshire side, who lie one place and three points above the Dorset men in 19th in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division.

He told Echosport: “That was probably one of our poorer performances, to be fair. We’ve only had a couple since Steve’s been involved and we didn’t do ourselves justice at all in that game.

“The lads will want to put that right. Steve was really annoyed about it.

“But they lost 4-2 in their last game (at Royston). They’re just above us in the league, three points better off than us, so it will be good if we can get three points at home against them.”

Dorchester, who have seen matches against St Neots and Tiverton postponed in the last week, will also have to deal with veteran striker Jamie Cureton for the third time this season after his move to the Blues from Farnborough.

Senior said: “He’s one of those where his record speaks for itself. If we give him a chance, he’ll stick it away.

“We’ve played against him a couple of times with Farnborough this season. He’s the name that springs to mind, but they’ve got other good players as well.

“We’ve got to make sure that we perform on the day. The good thing about it is that we’re going into the game with little to play for in terms of points.

“We’re safe from relegation and it would be easy for the lads to sit back and go through the motions, but in the last two games that’s not what’s happened.

“We got a 1-0 win against Royston with a good performance and the Kettering game we were pleased with the performance there.”

Dorchester are hopeful that Luke Winsper and Chris Weale will return from injury, while Senior tipped defender Chris Clarke, dual-registered with Hamworthy United, to come into the reckoning due to Ross Carmichael’s suspension for his red card at Kettering.

He said: “The extra week’s rest would have done Chris and Luke the world of good so hopefully they will be in with a good shout of being available.

“The only other absentee will be Ross. He’ll be disappointed because he’s missed two games he could’ve played.

“Chris Clarke will probably come into the reckoning – he’s figured for us on a couple of occasions.”
