DORCHESTER Town boss Roy O’Brien is hoping to complete the signing of striker Ryan Moss tonight. Terms have already been discussed with the 22-year-old, who is expected to put pen-to-paper following this evening’s pre-season friendly against Coca-Cola League Two side Torquay United at the Jewson Stadium (7.45pm).
O’Brien is also hoping to snap up trialist forward Jules Emanti, who netted in Tuesday’s 4-1 defeat against AFC Bournemouth, and retain the services of goalkeeper Gareth Stewart.
He said: “Everything with Ryan has been sorted and hopefully he will sign tonight. He is a committed lad and it will be great to get him on board.
“He is a pain for defenders to deal with and he possesses that bit of aggression and passion, which is so important at this level.
“I am also looking at a couple of others. Jules Emanti came on against Bournemouth and scored, and I would like to do something with him too.
“He is very composed around the box and is very different than what we have already so fingers crossed we can sort something out.
“Unfortunately Gareth Stewart was ill on Tuesday but we are hoping he will play some part tonight as he is another one I want to get signed on.
“Everything will come down to what our budget permits but I know what I have got now and hopefully we will be able to get these players on board.”
Commenting on tonight’s game, O’Brien added: “Tom Mitchell has been recovering from a knock this week and could play some part this evening.
“Meanwhile, Nick Crittenden will probably not feature as much as he has done due to his forthcoming suspension.
“Unfortunately, he picked up 10 bookings at the end of last term and apparently the two-game ban has carried over to this year, which means he will miss our opening two matches of the new campaign.
“There were rumours that Kevin Hill would miss the first game as well for the red card he received in the Dorset Senior Cup final but he served his suspension for that at the end of last season.
“I was a little disappointed with our performance against Bournemouth and with the start of the new campaign just eight days away I am expecting a better display tonight.”
