DORCHESTER Town manager Roy O’Brien could be ready to pull the plug on negotiations with Gareth Stewart and snap up ex-Weston-super-Mare keeper Ryan Northmore instead.
The 28-year-old impressed the Magpies’ boss in last night’s 1-0 defeat against Torquay United at the Jewson Stadium.
O’Brien said: “The situation with Gareth Stewart is an ongoing one. Budgets tend to dictate a lot of things and Ryan did well last night and I will be speaking with him again.”
The Magpies, who contained their League Two opponents for much of the game until Ben Joyce netted the only goal on 81 minutes, also fielded ex-Yeovil Town man Andy Linde-gaard at right-back.
O’Brien added: “Bringing Andy here would be nice but I do not think it will happen. He has been training at Kidderminster Harriers and is a good friend of mine, so I will keep chewing his ear off and you never know.”
Fellow trialist Steve Devlin has also impressed O’Brien, who is hoping to hold talks with the winger and forward Jules Emati over the coming days.
He said: “Steve looked good down the left side and I would like to do something with him along with Jules Emati. Ideally, I would like to add another three or four players to the squad as soon as possible.”
