DORCHESTER Town manager Roy O’Brien hopes to bolster his squad with four new additions in the next 24 hours.
The Magpies’ boss is ready to offer deals to keeper Ryan Northmore, defender Neil Martin, winger Steve Devlin and striker Jules Emati, who have all impressed throughout pre-season.
The Irishman’s decision to move for Northmore means any hopes of Gareth Stewart returning to the Jewson Stadium look dead in the water.
O’Brien said: “We talked to the lads on Saturday morning and told them that we would come back with an offer for them.
“Since then I have spoken with the chairman and he has said he will get back to me, so fingers crossed, we will hopefully be able to get the deals done at training tonight.
“It would be nice to be able to get a few more in as well but the budget dictates what we can do and if those four players all sign on then that will complete the squad for the start of the season.”
The Magpies, who will also train on Thursday, will begin their Blue Square South campaign with a home clash against St Albans City this Saturday.
O’Brien added: “I was very pleased with our performance in the 1-0 defeat against Torquay United last Friday and we will be working hard in training this week to ensure we carry that type of performance on into the St Albans game.
“The effort and commitment we showed in that last pre-season friendly was excellent. We had a good shape about us and contained them really well. We also created quite a few chances in the end so we can go into Saturday full of confidence.”
