Magpies are out of luck at Camrose

Dorchester Town manager Ashley Vickers labelled last night’s 1-0 defeat at Basingstoke “a robbery”.

The Magpies dominated proceedings at the Camrose, but once again their failure to turn pressure into goals was suitably punished by the unforgiving hosts, who took the lead in the 33rd minute through David Pratt and held on to record their first win of the Blue Square Bet South season.

As a result, Vickers’ side remain rock-bottom with zero points.

However, the county town chief is adamant that the Magpies’ luck will soon change for the better.

He said: “Myself and Phil Simkin have never seen such a one-sided game in which the other team won.

“We absolutely dominated the game, even more so than the one at Bromley on the opening day, and in the end it was a robbery.

“It sounds like the same old thing but we could have won it – Basingstoke knew it and we knew it.

“Steve Devlin hit a post and Nathan Walker had a header cleared from behind the line.

“I must have run over 15 black cats in the last week or so because we are just not getting the breaks.”
