SAM Malsom made an instant impact in front of his new supporters – scoring in last night’s friendly with a Portsmouth XI.
The Avenue Stadium clash ended 2-2 with Ryan Dovell also on the mark for the hosts and Jack Maloney and Jed Wallace replying for Pompey.
The only major disappointment came in the form of an injury to Aldershot loanee Max Worsfold.
Next up for the Magpies is Saturday’s visit of Havant & Waterlooville – the county town side’s first Blue Square Bet South encounter since the 1-1 draw with Dover on January 21.
The Hawks were also in action last night, losing 3-1 at Welling United.
