ANY possible involvement from Eddie Mitchell in AFC Bournemouth looks to have been quashed after the consortium he was part of failed in its bid to take over the ailing club.
The Cherries entered administration back in February and Mitchell made no secret of his interest in the Coca-Cola League One outfit, but news of Marc Jackson's successful bid in the race for Bournemouth will put Dorchester Town fans' minds at rest.
Magpies' majority shareholder Mitchell was involved in a consortium headed by Bournemouth chairman Jeff Mostyn, who was initially announced as the new owner until administrators Begbies Traynor retracted the statement after "further clarification" was required regarding his group's bid.
Mitchell though is fully focused on his role at the county town club, who are struggling against relegation from Blue Square South.
He told Echosport: "I am disappointed because I was interested in Bournemouth but it's not the end of the world. I have always been and will continue to be 100 per cent behind Dorchester Town.
"I was talking to someone in reference to Bournemouth but there was never any bid made by me.

"Someone made me an offer and I confirmed my interest but there was a long way to go. I confirmed my interest in Bournemouth from day one and it's been an ongoing saga.
"If I did get involved I wouldn't have been at the forefront because the FA wouldn't allow it, I was just looking at it as a business venture because that's what I do for a living.
"But if it hasn't come off then it hasn't come off. Let's see how Marc Jackson performs.
"What I will say is that if anything did happen it wouldn't have affected my interests with Dorchester and what I'm doing there. We're still building so everything is as it were at Dorchester.
"It's a long haul with any football club. I don't know where we'll be next season, I just want to do my best for the club."
The Magpies face Hayes & Yeading United at the Jewson Stadium on Saturday knowing that should they lose, and other results go against them, then demotion to the BGB Southern Premier Division could be confirmed.
Mitchell is hoping to be in the stands after missing out on the team's last home fixture.
He added: "I'm in Dubai at the moment and I'm not sure if I'll be back in time. I'm trying to get an earlier flight so hopefully I'll be there on Saturday."
* The Magpies have arranged a reserve team friendly against Hamworthy United at the Jewson Stadium tonight (7.45pm) where entrance will be free of charge.
