SHAUN Brooks has vowed to help the Magpies get back where they belong after seeing his side relegated on Saturday.
Defeat at Lewes, where Paul Booth and Jean-Michel Sigere netted for the Rooks, coupled with victory for St Albans against Eastleigh eventually sealed the Magpies' fate after five months in the Blue Square South bottom three.
Despite losing to the newly-crowned champions, the county town director of football was pleased with the display of his men.
He said: "We were excellent. It took Lewes almost 70 minutes to get the first goal, we nullified the threat up until that point.
"We had four or five clear-cut chances
and an inability to score has been a
major factor in our season.
"Other than scoring it was a really competitive performance.

"Everyone is bitterly disappointed with the result and the outcome but it is a performance they can be proud of because we matched Lewes all over the pitch, we just lacked goals."
Brooks is aware of the physical challenge facing the Magpies in the BGB Southern Premier Division next term but is determined to see them make a swift return.
He added: "I'm aware what needs to be done. We have a good nucleus but still need four or five additions, and there will be one or two players released.
"It's important we get as strong a squad as possible and do everything we can to bounce straight back and get the club back where it belongs, which is at Conference level."
Fellow Blue Square South outfit Cambridge City announced they have failed to achieve the sufficient ground grading set by the Football Association.
Brooks though, is doubtful that the mid-table Lilywhites will be relegated as a result.
He said: "There is a situation with Cambridge but I can't see them being demoted so I'm not holding out any hope there.
"We've been relegated but we can still finish above Weston-super-Mare and it would be great if we could do that."
* The Magpies have wasted no time in streamlining their squad for next season with the release of keeper Simon Evans and midfielder Tareq Khalil.
Evans suffered a rupture to the medial
ligament in his knee back in February and is waiting to have an operation, which is likely to keep him out of the game for the majority of the year.
Meanwhile, Khalil leaves the club just four months after joining.
OMG Brooks is going to get us back where we belong.
As he is a Wessex League Manager we all know what will happen if this useless prat is in charge next year.
Mr Mitchell and Mr Brooks if you come as a pair then go as a pair.
B****R back to Sandbanks - start you own club there and ruin that just like you have ruined ours.

Why don't you at least get one thing right this season Brooks, and **** off now and let someone who knows what they're doing take over, to try and start repairing our club that you have totally wrecked.
