Fred VanVleet’s jump shot with 1.1 seconds of overtime remaining lifted the Toronto Raptors to their sixth straight win as they stretched their lead at the top of the Eastern Conference.

A 121-119 win over the Detroit Pistons saw the Raptors move two-and-a-half games clear of the Boston Celtics.

Though the final act was VanVleet’s, DeMar DeRozan led the Raptors with 42 points, while Jonas Valanciunas had 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Detroit’s Blake Griffin had sent the game into overtime with a last-second shot in regulation tying it up at 114-114. Griffin led Detroit with 31 points.

LeBron James had another huge night with 39 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds as the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Denver Nuggets 113-108.

The win leaves the Cavaliers nine games back on Toronto in third place in the East.

In the West, the Houston Rockets’ streak continued as they moved one game clear of the Golden State Warriors with a 110-99 win over the Milwaukee Bucks – their 17th straight win.

James Harden scored 26 points to lead the way as five Rockets scored in double figures.

With Denver losing, the Utah Jazz boosted their play-off hopes with a 104-84 win over the Indiana Pacers – a fourth straight win which puts them level with Denver and the LA Clippers in the scrap for eighth place in the West.

Lauri Markkanen scored 22 points while Zach LaVine and Kris Dunn had 21 each to help the Chicago Bulls beat the Memphis Grizzlies 119-110.

Nikola Mirotic scored 26 points to lead the New Orleans Pelicans to a 114-101 win over the Sacramento Kings, while the Los Angeles Lakers edged out the Orlando Magic 108-107 on Julius Randle’s put-back with 3.8 seconds left.
