Closure/Restriction Notice
2nd July – 17th August 2012
Torch Relay Evening Celebration & Weymouth & Portland Live site
The Council hereby gives notice that an area of Weymouth Beach and Promenade will have restricted, partial or closed public access as part of the safe management and operation of the above events from 0800 on 2nd July until 2100 hours on 17th August as follows:-
1. The area of Weymouth Beach between the Promenade wall and the foreshore from the Weymouth Pavilion Theatre
towards the King Statue measuring 250 metres;
2. and a 4 metre average width of the Promenade from the Pavilion Theatre to Bond Street.
Exercising of Dogs:
The following arrangements will be in place for the exercising of dogs within the current dog area at the Pavilion end of Weymouth beach during the period from the 2nd July until 17th August:-
2nd until 4th July – No access available (Beach Works)*
5th until 11th July – Section of beach available 24hrs
12th July – No access available (Torch Relay Evening
Celebration Event)*
13th until 18th July – Section of beach available 24hrs
19th July until 14th August - Permitted daily access to restricted area between 0700 & 0900 hours only
15th until 17th August - Section of beach available 24hrs
*Please note that the Preston Beach dog exercise area remains unaffected and will be available at all times. Alternatively dogs are permitted at Castle Cove and Sandsfoot Beaches.
Weymouth & Portland Borough Council apologises for any inconvenience the closure arrangements may cause during this period.
