TWO out-of-town teams dominated the South Dorset League’s 2013-14 season with Reads Odds and Sods from Broadmayne being crowned champions, and Charminster’s Three Compasses runners-up.
The awards were handed out at the annual end-of-season presentation night held at Dorchester‘s Colliton Club.
Sponsored once again by The Spice Centre, the league programme saw a season-long battle for top spot develop between the two sides but, in the end, it was the family team, led by Ray Read, who triumphed, pipping their rivals by just two points.
Reads also took the honours in one out of the season’s three cup competitions, while players from both teams scooped trophies in singles and pairs tournaments.
The New Inn at West Knighton were the league’s wooden spoon winners, and in the league Knockout Cup, All Pegged Out, based at The Bull, Fordington, just edged out Spitfire Flyers from Crossways.
