MARTINSTOWN v DORCHESTER

TWO teams who just missed out on the top prize in Premier Two this term bring the curtain down on their campaigns tomorrow.

Martinstown host Dorchester (1pm) with the only consolation of second place in the table up for grabs.

The visitors hold the upper hand with a seven-point advantage and they have Pete Moxom back for the derby clash.

There may be nothing of great significance resting on the outcome of the fixture other than local pride, but Dorchester captain Dan Belt insists his team will be as focused as ever.

“It has been a long season but we’re looking forward to it, like we do every game,” he told Echosport. “We just want to get out there and win really.

“We are definitely going there to get a result, but at the same time we want to have as much fun as possible.

“It’s a perfect game for everyone to go out there and show what they are made of and we want to finish as high up the table as we can.”

Belt has pin-pointed two defeats on the road this season as the ones that proved pivotal to Dorchester missing out on first place to Sherborne.

Despite that, Belt feels he has got the players to go one better next year.

He added: “Losing to Wimborne and Bere Regis away pretty much cost us the league when we should have won both games.

“Not winning the league wasn’t great but we still look at it and feel like we had a good season.

“The youngsters will be another year older next season and we’ll try and bring some more experience into the team as well.

“I think we have got a squad to go one better next season.”
