HEIKO Dreier remains the man to catch following the second day of action at the EFSA European Boat Championships.

The Irishman held on to the lead he established at the end of day one, with Italy’s former European junior champion Anthony Giacomini now Dreier’s closest rival.

Englishman Colin Searles was knocked down from second to third place in the overall standings.

The Isle of Wight’s Mark Smith was the number one angler on Tuesday.

In the international team event, England A maintained their grip on top spot ahead of Italy, while England B climbed to third.

Home favourites Ray Barron and Neil Bryant did just enough to cling on to first from English duo Matt Osborne and Rob Shattock in the open two-man team category.

And Katharina Schlief shows no signs of letting go of her European ladies’ crown as she remains first going into day three on Wednesday.

On another good day of competition in Weymouth on Tuesday, a 15lb specimen ling was caught aboard Wight Huntress.
