Division One GW

Electrical 31 Buildrite 26

BUILDRITE centre Jen Ayles impressed in the early stages but GW’s consistency all over the court allowed them to stay just ahead.

A much tighter defence in the second quarter helped Buildrite close to within one point.

Although GW goal-shooter Becci Lingham made some imp-ressive shots, Buildrite won the quarter 8-6.

GW began to pull away again with some smart play and with a couple of impressive interceptions by their goal-keeper they stayed on top to secure victory.

Division One

O Jo’s 40 Poachers Inn 15

O JO’S made a flying start with quick passes to accurate shooters Chloe Weldon and Kathy Sims.

Great movement from Sims created space to work with and the points started to flow.

Poachers kept battling and worked hard for crucial goals, though O Jo’s remained in the lead by the end of the second quarter.

O Jo’s changed shooters for the second time to keep Poachers on their toes in defence, while in attack they found it hard to break down their opponents.

Poachers kept their heads up and were still making play hard for O Jo’s with a high level of possession.

In the final quarter, Poachers’ shooters found some success but it was not enough as O Jo’s remained well clear.

Allways Removals 24 Stika (First Class Fitness) 39

ALLWAYS’ wing-attack Helen Smale displayed some excellent attacking play and good vision when feeding into the D, but Stika kept working hard to defend a narrow lead of three from the first quarter.

High-class play from Stika centre Jackie Brisbane and goal-shooter Cathy Will-iams helped them to extend their lead to six at 17-11.

Allways shooters Henni Green and Lorraine Kellaway were striving for every ball, however, Stika continued to extend their score with precise, effective play.

The final quarter saw a much more equal game as Stika sealed a 39-24 win.

Waikiki 19 Weysports A 22

AN energetic start saw the teams go goal-for-goal in the first quarter.

Waikiki goal-shooter Katy Alcock then helped her side get on top and defenders Jo Baldwin, pictured, and Mary Cornick denied Weysports any chances.

However, the score remained even through the second quarter before Waikiki managed to pull 11-10 ahead at half-time.

Waikiki’s experience strengthened their play, with fluidity and teamwork matching Weysports’ youth and enthusiasm.

There was only one goal in it going into the final quarter and then Weysports’ attackers Jade Carroll and Eleanor Lake began to find their range at the pivotal moment.

Tasha Lundi made crucial interceptions and, with both teams tiring, Weysports held on to their slender lead.
