WEYMOUTH’S Geoff Blake picked up two wins in his Vauxhall-engined Westfield SEi in the modified specialist production car class at the Manor Farm Speed Hillclimb in Charmouth.

Blake recorded his best time on day one of the meeting with a climb of 27.50 seconds and got to within seven hundredths of a second of that the following day.

The over 1600cc rally car category saw Lyme Regis driver Craig Moore face stern opposition in the form of Wimborne’s Tim Porter in his Darrian T90.

Prior to the event, Moore held the class record which he had wrestled from Porter at a previous competition, but it was clear the Darrian pilot was on a mission to re-write the record books.

And on his second official climb Porter recaptured the class benchmark with a time of 29.18secs before taking that down to 28.95secs 24 hours later.

Moore manhandled his Ford Cortina through the Manor Farm course in his quest to at least defeat his adversary if not recover the record, but he was forced to settle for two second places with a best climb of 29.49secs.

Colyton’s George Koopman took his Honda Integra to victory in the 1800cc to 2600cc capacity split of the road-going series production category, while Dorchester Subaru Impreza driver Kevin Joy claimed third.

Frampton’s Stewart Green faced the rapid Westfields of Mike Williams and Adrian Lewis in the road-going specialist production class and was unable to replicate his recent Wiscombe Park class win.

The Sylva Riot driver finished third on day one but defeated Lewis and his Megabusa-powered machine the following day.
