WEYMOUTH member Jon Welch is absolutely delighted to be selected to represent the South West of England, in an annual one-off match against the Midlands.

This match takes place at the Robin Hood’s challenging parkland course in Solihull.

The 25-year-old will play an 18-hole foursomes and an 18-hole singles match on Friday.

Welch, a three-time Weymouth club champion and former under-21 county champion, was picked to play last year by south west captain Giles Legg, but due to a back injury was unable to compete. Welch joins fellow golfer Tom Leach from Ferndown as the only two to be selected from Dorset to become part of the team of 10.
