THE Max Price Trust fund has benefited from a charity night in honour of a former league stalwart.
The Don Cluett Trophy was named after the popular former Isle of Portland League chairman who passed away.
The league hosted the annual charity mixed doubles evening at the Portland Borstal Officers Club where Don had been a long-standing member.
Open to all players, the entry fees and raffle proceeds were all donated to the Max Price Trust Fund, chosen by Don’s widow Eileen, a keen player herself and entrant on the night.
A fantastic turnout of 18 mixed pairs entered with the trophy being won by Marilyn McLaughlin and Colin Richards, who scored a stunning maximum 180, and beat worthy contenders Sean McMurray and Abi Northover.
League spokesman Andy Poulton thanked everyone for their support and generosity, including Portland Signworks for their oversized cheque and all those who donated raffle prizes.
Max Price was born with chronic renal failure and used to make three trips a week to Southampton for dialysis treatment. Now six-years-old, he is recovering well after his father successfully donated one of his kidneys.
The cheque for £204 was presented to Max’s grandparents, Paul and Roz Allington, by Eileen Cluett and the winners.
